This describes what we store, what we deliberately never store, and exactly who can see each part. It is written to be read by a parent rather than by a lawyer, and every rule described here is enforced by the database rather than by the app.
Who this is for, and who it is not
playerlink.me is for players aged 13 and over. Accounts are created and owned by a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 13. The database refuses to create a profile for anyone under 13, and a club importing a roster has under-13 rows rejected automatically. If you believe a profile exists for a child under 13, email us and we will delete it.
What we store about a player
Name, a photograph if you upload one, graduation year, positions, dominant foot, height, jersey number, club and league, a general region such as “Fort Myers, FL”, a short biography, links you add, video links you add, upcoming events, and — only if you choose to enter them — GPA, SAT or ACT scores, NCAA ID and high school.
For a player attached to a club, we also store which club and which squad.
What we deliberately never store
The schema contains no home address, no street, no postal code, no player phone number and no player email address. Not optional, not blank — the columns do not exist, and a test asserts that they never come back.
This is why a player cannot be contacted directly through this service. A coach who writes through the profile reaches the guardian's inbox, and there is nothing in the system that could route to the player instead.
A player may be given their own login to edit their page. That login uses an internal address that cannot receive mail, so it does not collect a child's email either.
Nothing is public until a guardian publishes it
A new profile is private. Publishing requires a guardian who owns the account and has confirmed their email address; the database refuses otherwise. A club can import a roster, but those profiles stay invisible until a parent claims one and confirms.
A private profile is indistinguishable from one that never existed — its address returns “not found” rather than “private”.
Who can see what
- Anyone with the link sees a published profile: the photo, vitals, film, links, events, and any academic figures the family chose to show.
- Only a coach opening the coach view on a paid, published profile sees the high school, the references and their contact details, and any approved recommendations. That page is never indexed by search engines.
- Only the family sees the school list, the emails saved against each school, and any recommendation that has not been approved.
- A club sees its own roster and whether a profile is published. A club cannot read the family's school list, their saved emails, or what a coach wrote about a player — there is no database rule that would let it, which is unusual and deliberate.
- We operate the service. Our own administrative tools read totals and aggregates; there is no browsable list of children in them.
High school and academic figures
A high school name plus a region identifies a specific child in a specific building, so it is never shown on the public page and the anonymous role holds no permission to read it at all. It is available only through the coach view.
GPA and test scores appear on the public page only if a family switches them on. Every field has its own switch.
References and recommendations
People who agree to speak for a player are not listed publicly — not their names, not their roles. They appear only in the coach view. Their email and phone are never available to anonymous visitors under any circumstances.
A coach who writes a recommendation gives us their name, role, club and email address. Nothing they write is visible to anyone until the family approves it, and their email address is never published.
What we collect automatically
A count of profile views. We do not run advertising, we do not sell or share personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and there are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers on a player's page.
Who we share it with
Service providers who make the product work, and nobody else: Supabase (database and file storage), our hosting provider, Resend (email delivery) and Cloudflare Turnstile (spam prevention on public forms). Each processes data on our instructions.
We will disclose information if legally required to, and we will tell the account holder unless prohibited from doing so.
Your rights
A guardian can see, correct, export or delete everything on their player's profile from the dashboard at any time. Unpublishing takes the page offline immediately. Deleting the account removes the profile, the film links, the events, the school list and the recommendations.
Residents of Florida, California and other states with privacy statutes have additional rights — to know, to correct, to delete, and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell data or serve targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the other rights are exercised through the dashboard or by emailing us.
Keeping it, and losing it
We keep a profile for as long as the account exists. If we discover a breach affecting personal information we will notify affected account holders and the relevant authorities within the timeframes the law requires.
Changes
If we change how any of this works we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting how a player's information is used will be emailed to guardians.
